Pigmentation 101

Are you ready to become a pigmentation specialist?

What you'll get:

Lesson One: Ethnicity Factor

In this lesson, students will learn about the unique makeup of each ethnic group. This segment covers skin physiology and physiognomy. It highlights differences in the aging process as well as how each ethnicity may present in the treatment room.

Lesson Two: Melanogenesis

This lesson explores the synthetization of pheo- and eumelanin. Students gain an understanding of the process from oxidation, to differentiation and injection into the keratinocytes.

Lesson Three: Ingredients

This lesson covers ingredients that address pigmentation issues as well as chemo-exfoliation. Students will learn each ingredient’s mechanism of action. At the end of this lesson, they will understand how to customize treatments by selecting the right ingredients for each skin condition.

Lesson Four: Skin Analysis

This lesson features ten clients with pigmentary issues. In the video, the instructor points out various conditions as she moves through the skin analysis process. The workbook teaches students to think beyond the Fitzpatrick scale. Instead, they are taught to use the Lancer Ethnicity Scale and to asses skin by looking at texture, color, and secretions.
